Two drinking water industries sealed

The Department of Supply Management and Consumers’ Welfare Protection has sealed two drinking water industries operating illegally in Kathmandu valley.A team of the Department sealed ‘Matatirtha Spring Mineral Water and Beverage Pvt Ltd and ‘Spring Mineral Water of Matatirtha Pvt Ltd’ after the industries were found dirty and operating illegally, in course of an onsite visit on Monday.Department officer Deepak Pokharel said that the industries were sealed after they found the environment within the water processing plants filthy and the seal on the top of mineral water bottles missing. Similarly, the industries also lack necessary documents, it is stated.The Department has directed the respective proprietors to be present at the Department for clarification within three days.A joint team comprising representatives of Supplies Ministry, Department of Supply, Department of Food Technology and Quality Control, the District Administration Office, Kathmandu, among others had carried out the monitoring at different places in Capital. -
